Potatoes yield in Salaj is double this year compared with 2010
Chief of Division of Agriculture Salaj, Ioan Bujita, announced that potato production in the county, in 2011, will double from last year. Regarding the grapes and apples production these will be diminished due to late freezing weather from last spring.
The estimated potato production is 87,000 tons, while apple’s production is around 13,000 tons and grapes production is 11,000 tons.

In Salaj County, 5,075 hectares have been cultivated with wheat, for which production reached 13,702 tones (2,699 kg/hectare). Another 1,332 hectares were cultivated with triticales (3,596 tones), 5,100 hectares of oat (10,200 tones), 971 hectares of two-rowed barley (1,942 tones), and 297 hectares of barley (802 tones). Some other 10,300 tones of plums were produced from 1,446 hectares of plum orchard, according to centralized data of Division of Agriculture.
