Minister of Agriculture Ilie Sarbu said yesterday that the agricultural situation is close to disaster, due to the fact that no European funds have been attracted. Sarbu warned the ministry’s employees that they did not fulfill their responsibilities, in spite of high salaries.
Consequently, the Minister requested the resignation of the President of the National Agency for Fishing and Aquaculture (ANPA), responsible for the absorption of EU funds in the field, and announced the competition in the coming days for the institution’s vacant position.
Sarbu also criticized the activity of other institutions working with European funds, and mentioned that the European Commission is also concerned about the situation in Romania.
