Businessman Ioan Niculae, owner of Interagro group, is considering moving abroad chemical fertilizer complexes, which he closed at the end of 2008, due to the global crisis and financial blockage, if the Romanian government does not make a decision regarding subsidies for Romanian farmers who wish to acquire chemical fertilizers.
“I keep receiving offers from partners in Canada, Sweden, the United States of America, and Turkmenistan, to disassemble the complexes and move them abroad. Relocation could be a commercial option,” Niculae told Business Standard.
The businessman did not mention whether relocation would necessarily mean selling the four complexes he currently controls. “I will make a decision in a week. I cannot wait longer for a reply from the government,” he added.
