The government’s anti-drought strategy, which stipulates the supplementing of 200,000 more hectares of irrigated land and the free use of water is sharply criticized by businesspeople who participated in the agriculture panel of the Private Government project, who believe that this is a “demagogic plan,” “wishful thinking,” or plans “on paper” only, as crops are already compromised.

Businessman Mihai Anghel, the owner of Cerealcom Dolj, believes that all the water in the Danube could flood the crops and it would no longer help. “It would be like giving water to a dread man,” he added, saying that the government presented an anti-drought plan “only to show it cares, and is concerned.”
