Scandia foodstuffs producer, the leader of the local market, increased its market share by 4 percent in the first half of 2009, up to some 69 percent, while the market shrunk 1.5 percent in terms of volume on the pate segment and rose 7.8 percent on the food segment, according to company officials. They were quoting a study by MEMRB market research company.
“The fact that we managed to increase market share is a positive signal. I estimate that Scandia will maintain this percentage this year,” the company’s CEO, Robert Redeleanu, told Business Standard.
Scandia Romana’s top brands, Sibiu and Bucegi pates, registered a hike in sales in H1. “Sibiu is a premium segment brand which defines Scandia’s portfolio and has constant clients. I expect the Bucegi brand to register a 15-17 percent increase, due to consumers’ focus on economic products,” Redeleanu said.
